After completing my bachelors degree in England, I worked initially as a government scientist before moving into the corporate world. There I held people development roles which prompted a career change in my 30's. I completed post graduate training in psychotherapy and received professional certification with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy which regulates practitioners in the UK.
I am committed to my own growth and continued professional education. I have recently completed a Certificate in Gestalt Psychotherapy at the Pennsylvania Gestalt Center studying under Mariah Fenton-Gladis, a world renowned Gestalt Psychotherapist and educator.
As a psychotherapist I have worked mainly in private practice, receiving referrals from local family doctor practices, psychiatrists as well as EAP companies. In addition I provided support services at a hospice and within a social services family center setting. In my current practice I work with individuals, couples and groups on a variety of emotional difficulties. Preferring not to limit my experience to one specialism there are areas in which I have a particular interest and knowledge which include:
- self esteem issues
- teenage difficulties
- anger management/stress management
- transition issues, particularly divorce and empty nesting
- parenting difficulties.
Prior to my training as a psychotherapist in my 30's, I worked in the corporate world as a management skills trainer, recruiter and facilitator of change. This enables me to bring a unique blend of experiences, insight and 'wiseness' into the therapy process.
"Alongside my skills and professional experience I bring the qualities of warmth, compassion, integrity and humor and my own personal experiences of life with teenagers, loss, coping with transition and a parent who struggled with dementia."
